Unitek College is honored that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has recognized and accredited our RN to BSN program. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is an autonomous accrediting agency that is officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education that contributes to the improvement of the public's health. Unitek College provides professional development, externship and clinical placement, and employment assistance to its students. We strive to make sure all of our students receive guidance and mentorship from Career Services specialists. Through this partnership, students acquire skills that help them find and maintain employment. The department is staffed with full-time professionals who lead the student community to build a foundation for a strong career. This team of Career Services Coordinators and Managers are proud of the commitment and dedication our students bring to their training, and it is their single-minded mission to assist graduates with employment in their new career field.

Our Programs

 

 

Medical Assisting

 

Medical Assisting is a great program for individuals interested in providing care to those with medical needs. Unitek College’s 9-month Medical Assisting program offers an active learning environment with an emphasis on practicing real clinical skills. Our program covers basic knowledge and skills required for MA's in ambulatory/health care settings including medical terminology, medical front/back office procedures, anatomy and physiology, with MA duties in assisting in some minor surgical procedures.

With our knowledgeable teachers and hands-on training methods you can learn and grow in pursuit of your new career as a Medical Assistant.

All students complete an externship, which provides practical experience in a physicians' office, hospital, or other healthcare facility. Emphasis is placed on Interpersonal communication, critical thinking, decision making, and other skills required for a basic medical assistant.

 

Pharmacy Technician

 

Unitek College’s Pharmacy Technician program blends traditional lectures and hands-on laboratory exercises to best prepare future Pharmacy Technicians for success in the workforce. Our 9-month Pharmacy Technician program prepares students to perform tasks related to receiving, processing, and dispensing of prescriptions,; control and maintenance of inventory, sterile and non-sterile compounding, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceutical products.

The right prescription can make a world of difference to patients struggling with infections or chronic illnesses. If you’re interested in helping people by correctly preparing and dispensing prescription medications, a career as a Pharmacy Technician may be right for you. Pharmacy Technicians are employed in a variety of settings, including: r4etail pharmacies, hospital out-patient and in-patient pharmacies, long-term-care pharmacies, pharmacies in correctional facilities, and veterinary pharmacies.

Our knowledgeable teachers and hands-on training methods create a simulated environment where you can learn and grow in pursuit of your new career as a Pharmacy Technician. In addition, all students complete an externship, which provides practical experience in a real pharmacy setting.

 

Dental Assisting

 

Unitek College's Dental Assisting program is a good fit for students that love working with their hands. This program is designed to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits of a Dental Assistant, focusing on the treatment-room care of dental patients.

Unitek College provides a strong foundation in the skills and experience needed to succeed in a career as a Dental Assistant, combining in-class instruction with hands-on lab skills experience. Externships provide a hands-on opportunity to put the skills learned in the classroom into practice.

Courses cover all aspects of dental assisting and include infection control and sterilization techniques, how to handle medical emergencies, the correct procedure for taking dental X-rays , Coronal Polishing teeth, the placement of Pit and Fissure Sealants, and taking impressions, and the use of various dental instruments. Topics covered in the program also include oral evacuation, fixed prosthodontics, pharmacology and pain control, preventative dentistry, how to assist with oral surgery, and tray setups.
