Wisconsin Radiology Technician Careers and Degrees

Receiving your Radiologic Technologist Training in Wisconsin

Radiologists depend on the expertise of their radiologic technologists. To become successful radiology techs begin their training with general requirements and advance to introductory radiology courses to begin the heart of their studies. Clinical studies and additional classroom coursework in subjects, such as anatomy, biology and radiographic procedures round out studies in the final semesters.

Clinical studies entail performing basic body positions for optimum exposure on the image taken and proper patient procedures to preserve patient dignity and compassion will be explored. Students can expect about half their final weeks to be in clinical studies.

Career Outlook for Radiologic Technologist Jobs in Wisconsin

Compared to the average 14.3% expected growth for all occupations, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) prediction of a 28% increase for radiologic techs through 2020 shows the opportunities for those who choose this career stand as very good. The demand for healthcare professionals continues to rise due to elderly people living longer thus contributing to the growing demographics of this population group who generally require greater health care services. Applying the BLS 28% increase to Wisconsin’s current 4,190 radiographic technologists equates to approximately an increase of almost 1200 positions added by 2020. The annual mean salary of $54,290 puts Wisconsin radiologic techs close to the national mean.

While hospitals do employ a significant number of radiographic technologists, opportunities in several other industries require their services. Outpatient clinics, doctors’ offices and laboratories are other top employers. Research clinics and companies that design and build hire radiologic technologists on their teams as advisors and design consultants.
