Receiving your Radiologic Technologist Training in Delaware

Radiologic Technology is a demanding field, but one that is well worth the training and effort. As a radiologic technician, you will be in a unique position to help people with serious illnesses and injury by providing physicians with important information that will guide their treatment. To get into this field, you will need to get an associates’ or bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university in radiologic technology. Some of the classes you can expect to take include physiology and anatomy, medical terminology, radiation protection procedures, patient care and radiographic procedures. In addition to academic training, you will also receive hands-on learning on how to operate and maintain radiologic equipment and interpret the imaging. The Delaware Technical and Community College campuses in Newark and Georgetown both offer radiology technician associates’ degrees. These associates’ degrees can be completed in two years as a full time student.

Radiology Technician Licensing in Delaware

Radiologic technicians are considered medical professionals in Delaware and are licensed by the Delaware Office of Radiation Control. To obtain a license, applicants must either pass an exam or have recognized credentials from a professional radiology association such as the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Dental Assisting National Board, Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board or Cardiovascular Credentialing International.

There are no specific educational credentials required to obtain a radiology technician license in Delaware. To apply for a license, you must be at least 18 or enrolled in a radiology technician program. In addition, applicants must not have a serious criminal record or history of fraud or abuse.
